Garmin Adds Multicache Support in Latest Beta

Multi-cachers rejoice!
Updated: GPSMAP62/78 2.44 Beta also includes multi-caching support and possible altimeter improvements.

If you use an Oregon or Dakota you are probably tired of your friends who own 60CSx’s snickering at you every time you have to enter coordinates for a multi-cache or mystery cache in the field.  On the newer units once you enter [...]

Last week’s beta release (3.61) for the Oregon x50 adds some key features for owners of Garmin’s high-end outdoor units, not the least of which is the reintroduction of some tracklog archiving features only available on some of its older handhelds like the GPSMAP 60Csx.  The full release notes for this beta include:

Garmin Oregon/Dakota Beta Adds Geocache Filtering

In response GPS devices like the Lowrance Endura and Magellan eXplorist GC which support geocache filtering, Garmin released beta software yesterday which adds this feature to the Dakota and Oregon.  Geocache filters allow you to view the geocaches loaded on your GPS which match the criteria of a filter that you create, especially useful with [...]

Over the last two days Garmin has been busy rolling new versions of BaseCamp and software for the Colorado, Oregon x00, Oregon x50 and Dakota all aimed at delivering their newest mapping product — BirdsEye.   As we discussed in a previous post, BirdsEye allows users of the “state-named” Garmin GPS units to download and [...]

Custom Symbols on the Garmin Oregon 450 and 550

Ever since the Colorado arrived two years ago without this feature, Custom Symbols has been on the The Most Wanted List for the newer State-named units, especially since the older 60csx had this capability.  Today Garmin fixed that for some Oregon owners by announcing Custom Symbol support in their latest 450/550 beta.  The Custom Symbols [...]

Garmin to Add Custom Symbols and Tracklog Improvements to Oregon x50

Update: Garmin has released beta 3.26 for the Oregon x50 available here.  I would highly recommend backing up your entire /Garmin/GPX directory before using this beta since your current tracklog will get modified and moved into daily/weekly archives if you enable that feature.
Here’s something bound to make Garmin Oregon 450 and 550 owners happy.  Two [...]
