What type of maps are you trying to upload? If you are using Garmin maps you’ll need to use a Garmin tool like MapInstall which can be downloaded for free from Garmin’s site.

You should be able to get into USB mass storage mode using this procedure (it is tricky and may take several tries). Once you can you should be able to delete the kmz files.

I have a Oregon 450 that after being loaded with khz files it started to loop the boot sequence, the only thing that happens while starting it up is the blinking Garmin logo. I already tried to force it to storage drive mode and erase all user data but it simply didn’t stop blinking. Best regards.

Thanks for the link on the recovery procedures, it worked! I had the same problem than Gabriela.

Take a look at the recovery procedure linked two posts above. You’ll need to force the unit into mass storage mode and remove the map you just loaded. The map is probably corrupt and causing the unit to hang during its initialization.

I have an Oregon 550 and after copy a map (using the USG cable) the GPS don’t work, it start with the logo, and then the message “Loading waypoints, tracks, routes and photos…” appears, but it have passed more than 2 hours and it doesn’t continue… I try connect it again to the PC with de USB cable and nothing happend.
If you have any idea what can i do, please let me know,

My Oregon 550 is two months old. It was fantastic until I tried to turn it on today. Nothing. All I get is a flashing “Garmin” logo on the screen. I changed batteries, tried USB power, removed the SD card, tried the “hard re-set” (push upper left of the screen while turning it on). I almost think that the software can’t load and is corrupt, but there is no way for me to do anthing. Any ideas before I send this thing back to REI for a refund?
