Oregon 2.93 betaGarmin has made a new beta software available for the Oregon.  Garmin’s web site lists the following improvements in beta 2.93 (GPS 2.70):

  • Improved GPS reception
  • Improved connection reliability with Spanner
  • Fixed GB Discoverer map not displaying while zooming (introduced in 2.86 beta)
  • Fixed roads not showing on maps with satellite imagery (introduced in 2.86 beta)
  • Fixed map with no DEM data drawing with a gray background (introduced in 2.86 beta)

I have loaded the software, verified that the upgrade works properly and that the unit can lock and navigate after the upgrade.  The GPS software version has changed so it seems like Garmin is still trying to tune GPS performance after the issues with the 2.86 beta.  Let us know if you see any issues by posting here or on the Oregon wiki discussion thread.

Garmin is asking people to report issues in the beta software to OregonBeta@garmin.com .
