For the last few days I’ve been setting up the skeleton of  a Garmin Dakota wiki.    For those of you who use the Colorado and Oregon wikis the Dakota wiki should be very familiar.  While the Dakota is starting to look like a smaller Oregon with very similar software features I’ve decided it would be worthwhile to have a different wiki for at least those aspects of the Dakota which are different.   This will also allow me to support a Dakota discussion group and RSS feeds for Dakota owners as well.   In the end many of the Dakota pages may simply redirect you to the Oregon wiki depending on how similar the software is on these two units.

Today there isn’t a whole lot on the wiki other than the Product Information page which summarizes what I know about the unit and there is a discussion group available.

Hopefully in the next week or two I’ll have my hands on a Dakota as they become available to the public.   My plan is to do some early first impression posts here on GPSFix which will be collected together into a detailed hands-on review of the unit.
