Garmin Dakota Beta Picks up Latest Oregon Changes
A quick post to let Dakota owners know that they have been nice this year AND they will be getting more than a lump of coal for Christmas. Similar to the beta released a two weeks ago for the Oregon units, this beta gives Dakota users the same cool new dashboards and ability to see them on the Compass and Map page. This release also adds improved track navigation (link below) and predicted elevation change along your route. For details on how these features work see the Oregon beta post.
There are two unique features that have not made their way to the Oregon yet: Geocaching symbols are now visible on list views (see screen shot above) and POI phone number support.
I’ve loaded the new beta software without any problems but I’ll warn Dakota users that the current Oregon beta has issues with position jump near roadways – I’m not sure if this will be an issue with this software or not. The track management issues in the Oregon beta do seem to be fixed in this Dakota software.
Enjoy!
