After a week of testing with the latest GPS Firmware 2.8 for the Colorado it appears that Garmin has finally resolved the location errors that have plagued the unit since it came out in January. The image shows a recent test I ran with the Colorado over my GPS test course. Over the last 6-9 months I’ve collected data from several GPS’s over this test course and I’ve manually averaged the results of that data into the “Reference Track” which is the yellow track. The Colorado’s blue track is shown underneath. Using the version 2.6 GPS Firmware I would frequently see 200′-300′ position drifts. After 5-6 days of testing I have yet to see one with version 2.8.
